A bulging wardrobe still does not guarantee a successful outfit. Sometimes you can no longer see the forest for the trees and sometimes your wardrobe can use a freshening up. Is that the case for you? Then follow our step-by-step plan
Step 1: Do the laundry
It sounds so logical to do the laundry, but you probably have the chair in your bedroom just like many other people. In other words: a piece of furniture on which items of clothing end up that do not end up in the laundry basket because they are no longer dirty, but also not super fresh. Often this results in that you no longer wear it, but that it stays there for a long time. Wash this clothing and put it away again. Also wash the items of clothing that you have not worn for a long time, but want to keep. The garments do not smell stale if you still want to wear them.
Step 2: Get rid of the impulse purchases
Have you ever bought something because it was so cheap and not even because you really needed it? Welcome to the club. Tig people are guilty of this, but then do not wear the item of clothing. Do you have some of this type of clothing hanging in the wardrobe? Donate them to the Salvation Army if you are not going to wear them anyway.
Step 3: Also select other clothes
It is not only impulse purchases that need to be sorted out, other clothing also deserves sorting. Clothing that you will never wear and probably will not wear anymore is best disposed of. Do you find it difficult to discard clothing? Then give your clothing a ‘deadline’. If you do not wear the clothing for more than a year, it may go away.
Step 4: Buy basics
It sounds a bit contradictory to buy clothes when you want to tackle your wardrobe, but it can be a good choice. How about a black or white shirt, for example. You can contribute it everywhere. It can be neatly under a blazer or just above jeans. Ideal!
Step 5: Think about how you store it
If it is summer, you will benefit little from winter clothing that lies on top of the clothing pile. Do you have drawers that you do not actually grab? Then store seasonal clothing there. Also hang up blouses so that they don’t wrinkle so quickly. You can fold cotton and store it in piles.
